UK Staycations - #TravelodgeTopTowns
I'm a big fan of a good ol' short holiday, there's nothing Sean and I like better than booking up a 3 or 4 day city break somewhere we've never been before and then counting down the days before we jet off. I've blogged about previous trips to Budapest and Rome on here and last year we popped to Dubrovnik. This year though we're saving for buying a flat, having a wedding AND we accidentally on purpose booked a 2 week Baltic cruise for July, whoops. So basically, I don't think we'd be able to justify another international city break to our bank accounts...
Luckily we should be able to stave off our need to explore with a couple of little UK breaks - or 'staycations' if you prefer. Sean's Dad and his wife Lindsay gave us a fantastic present this Christmas of a trip away to either the Isle of Skye or the Isle of Mull at some point this year with a range of hotels to choose from. We're thinking of going for this one - HOW amazing does that view look? The amazing thing about Scotland is that there are so many beautiful places to visit, and you can often do a trip away quite cheaply! We only spent around £150 on our weekend away to Kingussie last year.
Another place I've been dying to visit in Scotland is the Roulotte Retreat in the Scottish Borders, which has been calling out to me ever since I came across Juliet's gorgeous photos from her trip. It's maybe a little pricier than you could probably find B&Bs for in the area, but I feel like it would be worth it for such gorgeous surroundings.
Outside of Scotland this time, but another place I'm planning on heading this year for a little trip away is beautiful Cambridge. My best friend Charlotte lives in Cambridge with her husband Ben and I don't think I've been back since their wedding in August 2014! I'd love to go back to properly see some of the sights...maybe I'll even be able to drag someone to the Fitzwilliam Museum with me! When I was down for the wedding I actually stayed in the nearby Travelodge which was great, so I'd definitely stay there again - prices can really add up staying in Cambridge and more money for bottles of wine to accompany a girly catch up can only be a good thing!
Are you a fan of the 'staycation'? I'd love to hear some of your favourite places/places you're planning on visiting soon, to see if there's anything I'd like to add to the list!
*I've been offered a voucher in exchange for sharing my UK staycations bucket list with my readers, but as always all opinions and words are my own! Also, I've never stayed in a Travelodge I didn't love <3
