Scotland is so stunning you guys. I've been desperate to visit more of Scotland even before I moved up, but never quite got round to it. Since Sean's birthday was on a Monday this year, we decided to take a day off work and celebrate with a long weekend - including a little day trip.

After some umm-ing and ahh-ing we decided on Kingussie - located in the midst of the Cairngorms National Park we knew the scenery would be out of this world, and it was also right by the Highland Wildlife Park, which totally made the decision for me!

We stayed at the Columba House Hotel, which was fairly nice, but I'd actually really recommend checking out the Rowan Tree Country Hotel - we went there for dinner on a whim and had honestly the most amazing time - we both agreed it was the best meal out we'd had in at least the last year. Plus browsing the website now it looks like the rooms are SUPER cute, very Pinterest worthy!

We arrived too late into the afternoon on Sunday to do much of anything before dinner, but we did stop off to take a wander around Loch Insh. It will forevermore hold a special place in my heart as the first Loch I've ever actually seen in real life, and it definitely proved the fact that the Highlands are gorgeous - check out that view!

I did a little vlog of whole weekend which I really enjoyed filming and editing so I'll pop that below once it's finally finished processing! Next on my list I think will have to be a trip to the West Coast - though I've heard the weather can be quite temperamental in autumn and winter!

  1. Awwww I am jealous, this is my favourite part of the world! Pretty much every single one of my childhood holidays was spent camping near Aviemore haha. Strangely enough, the last time I was up we had dinner at The Rowan Tree - we obviously both have good taste innit. xx
