Peanut Butter Jelly Smoothie

I was introduced to the concept of peanut butter and jelly (or jam) sandwiches by my lovely American flatmates when I was at university in St Andrews. It seems to be a real love/hate thing, like Marmite - but I absolutely adore it. 

This smoothie gives you the taste of the peanut butter and jam but without the sugar filled white bread and processed ingredients. Purists out there will argue that these are the whole point of PB & J, but this is perfect as a healthier alternative.

Serves 1 (large glass)

- 1 ripe banana
- 1/2 cup coconut or almond milk
- 2 Medjool dates
- 2 handfuls frozen berries
- 1 tbsp good quality peanut butter 

Add all of the above to your blender and mix away until smooth - the frozen berries should cool it down enough, but you could add a small amount of ice if necessary, or alternatively - try freezing the banana in chunks as well before you use it.
