Okay, so don't say anything too loudly because you might spook it, but we had an actual sunny day in Scotland this last Sunday! After two months convinced that my move had somehow caused summer to disappear as a season, it was lovely to have a full day of warm sunshine and blue skies to enjoy. At the weekend as well!
Sean and I decided to take full advantage and head out on a day trip in the great outdoors. Sean had been to Yellowcraig beach when he was younger and remembered it being lovely, so we grabbed our sunglasses and suncream and piled into the car. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go to plan and we ended up stuck in traffic, then the sat nag took us all the way to a dead end and told us we'd arrived at our destination, then we arrived at the beach and the toilets were out of order and we had no change for any food. Nightmare!

Luckily our scenic/completely wrong tour on the way over had us going past Archerfield golf club and the attached restaurant/gardens/shop The Walled Garden, so we popped back there to refuel. What a lucky decision that was - the food was gorgeous, the coffees were out of this world, the staff were super friendly and the walk around the grounds was just stunning. From dens made out of willow trees to a cute little wishing tree where you could wrap a ribbon round a branch and make a wish, we had heaps of fun traipsing through the fields.
Feeling much happier, and still with an hour or so spare before we had to head back, we decided to give the beach another try. This time we found it no problem, and it had emptied a good deal with people starting to head off home. It really is a gorgeous beach and it was so nice to feel sand on my toes for the first time this year. Rejuvenated by the sea air, we drove back to Edinburgh singing our little hearts out to Aerosmith just in time to meet some of Sean's friends for a seafood dinner and comedy show. What a perfect Sunday.
