Big Changes

So you might have seen this on Twitter already, but there's been some pretty big decisions made in my life over the last month or so. Basically, after having made the decision to move in together in London six months or so ago, Sean got offered a permanent job. Which was a big deal, because up until now he's been on a graduate program swapping roles every four months, which is how he ended up in Philadelphia last summer. The only issue was - the permanent role was in Edinburgh, and he had no idea whether there would ever be any opportunity to move back down to London within it.

Edinburgh has always been a bit of a 'maybe someday' for us, as we met in St Andrews and Sean's family are from Edinburgh - plus it's just a gorgeous city in general. But, our friends were in London, my family live in Kent and I have a job I love. So this, this was a major curve ball. The thing is, I was not prepared to go long term long distance again - Sean and I have been together six and a half years and we had JUST got to live together. Plus, I can't afford to live in London on my own - it's just not possible. In Edinburgh, there's the possibility that we'll be able to buy our first house together in the next year or so, rather than it being an almost impossible dream in the far distance. Also Sean has promised me that I can get a cat (SCORE.)

So the decision was made! Sean moves up in the next few weeks and I'll be moving up around the end of June/beginning of July. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous and apprehensive - I'll be looking for a new job (if you know of any marketing or social media positions hit me up), I'm worried about making new friends and it all just seems like such a BIG CHANGE for me. At the same time though, I'm excited - it's a new direction for us and as I said - it's a beautiful city!
