Cabin Fever | Hush

Sean and I are big fans of 'the weekend away' thing. Sometimes you don't have enough holiday days left at work to take the whole week off, sometimes you just want to make the most of a bank holiday weekend by whisking yourself away on a three day trip. In the last year or so we've popped over to Budapest and Rome for little weekend getaways and both times we've saved a ridiculous amount of money by not bothering with hold luggage.

Hush want to prove that you don't have to pack heavy to stay stylish on a three day trip and have challenged me to pick three daytime outfits and one nighttime outfit for a holiday away - the catch is that it would have to all fit in a cabin bag like this - no checking in a suitcase on this one!

So lets start with Day One - and for this one I've gone for a nice travelling outfit for going straight from the tarmac to sightseeing - no wasting time when you're only away for a weekend! A pair of white trousers are comfortable yet stylish and summery and can be teamed with any manner of tops - I've picked a loose silk coral shirt to add a pop of colour. The snake print sandals are the only shoes I've 'packed' they're neutral in colour enough to go with everything but the print adds a touch of interest. A matching neutral nail polish and a statement ring adds all the accessory that's needed here.

Day Two and we're lazing around by the pool, only getting up from a well positioned sun lounger to eat lunch at a cafe tucked away from the hustle and bustle and serving gorgeous local cuisine. You can never go wrong with a plain black bikini, especially if you're not really away long enough to acquire a deep golden tan. When the time comes to throw something over the top I'd choose these loose fitting sandy coloured shorts and another silk shirt - this time in black - layered unbuttoned over the bikini top. The sandals make another appearance and this time a boho bracelet and coral nail polish add a beach babe vibe to the rather monochrome outfit.

Day Three brings much of the same - this time getting a final wear out of that coral shirt from Day One. Chances are this is the day you'll be travelling back home so lose the bikini and button up the shirt - I'd roll the sleeves up and tie the shirt in a little knot at the belly button to show off a hint of sun kissed skin and change up the look a bit.

A holiday wouldn't be a holiday without a balmy evening drinking ridiculous cocktails adorned with paper umbrellas so a nice dress is always a good shout. This black number is slinky enough for a night on the tiles but is super lightweight and easy to pack - just roll it up and pop it in the top of your bag! Some statement silver jewellery is all you need to highlight the simple elegance of this look.

Last but not least, me mustn't forget the actual nighttime look. I adore the theme-matching anchor print on these button up pyjamas and they're perfect for taking on a space saving trip away because they come stored in a little drawstring bag. All that's left to consider is a good book for reading by the pool and that's your weekend in a bag sorted. Now go and take the money you've saved on not checking a suitcase and put it towards your next trip...did I mention that I love weekends away?

  1. I've done this in real life, I went on a 4 night holiday with my friend and I managed to fit it all into a cabin bag, not as hard as I thought it would be actually... it's all in the packing of it all :)

  2. Love this post Lauren. I have a tendancy to over pack whenever Tom and I go away. We are planning on going on a few city breaks next year so I will def be working on cutting down what I take!
