Cheltenham Ladies Day

Cheltenham Ladies Day Outfit

For some reason, my family get really interested in horse racing when the main events swing around, and there's usually a flurry of activity as each person picks a horse or two and places a little bet on them. I've never actually got involved, although I do occasionally giggle at some of the ridiculous horse names!

Going to the races though has always intrigued me - from what I've heard from various friends and seen online it seems to just involve getting dressed up, hanging out with your friends for the day and drinking bubbly - all very worthwhile activities I'm sure you'd agree! When I heard Ladbrokes had a little competition going which involved creating the perfect Cheltenham Ladies Day outfit I thought it was a perfect opportunity to have a little daydream about showing up in the ultimate sophisticated outfit. Maybe I'd even win the Best Dressed prize!

Cheltenham Ladies Day is fairly early in the year which means the weather isn't always at its best so I didn't want to go for a floaty summer dress and spindly heels, I'd look good at the entrance but two hours in and I'd have mud all up my shoes and blue lips! This Ted Baker dress has long sleeves and is a great length, but the pastel colours are a nod to the Springtime sunshine that is starting to appear. The Topshop scallop jacket picks up the pastel blue in the dress and adds an extra layer to your outfit in case you start getting a bit chilly. The fact that the dress has some black details as well means that you can weatherproof and muddy-field-proof your outfit with some chunky heel Aldo black boots and a stylish Topshop floppy hat. All you need to finish it all off is a clutch bag to fit in your essentials, and this ASOS one is lovely without taking away attention from the statement dress and jacket.

  1. I love, love, love the dress. Not sure I could pull that off, but it's the type of thing I see on others and wish I could wear. Effortlessly chic x
