There's no escaping it, tartan is everywhere for this Autumn/Winter. It seems that whenever I pop into a shop I'm confronted with rows of checked clothes in all the colours of the rainbow (although mostly in red, green and navy it has to be said.) Now I love me a bit of tartan, I'd probably have found it difficult doing four years at a university in Scotland if I didn't...plus you know, the whole Scottish boyfriend who whips out his kilt at every formal opportunity thing.
I already have a pair of tartan trousers from last year that I love, and now I'm looking to bulk up my collection. The two skirts are from Topshop and I can't for the life of me decide which I prefer, the shape of the lilac one is more my thing but I just love the colour of the orange one. Its a difficult choice to make!
The trousers are from River Island and are perfect for work wear, the muted colour isn't quite so Vivienne Westwood punk rock and they're just crying out to be worn with a crisp white shirt and some pointed court shoes.
The dress is currently a pre-order item on Glamorous and it jumped out at me as soon as I saw it pop up on the brand Facebook page. Its my favourite kind of dress, skater style with a little sleeve, and I am obsessed with the mix of prints - who knew floral and tartan was such a match made in fashion heaven?
Last but not least we have the option for those of you who aren't quite ready to go full on plaid just yet. A tartan scarf runs the risk of being a bit Rupert the Bear (which personally I love but I suppose it isn't for everyone) but this cosy New Look snood ticks the trend boxes without being too in your face, I bet it would look amazing teamed with a cream cable knit jumper.
