New Hair Part Two | GHD Style and Protect

Hello everyone! For the second part of my new hair blog I thought I'd show you two different hairstyles that I tend to gravitate towards now that I have NEW HAIR (have I mentioned that I have new hair?)

Both of these hairstyles involve using this amazing Style & Protect gift set* from GHD that has really shaken up how I do my hair on a day to day basis.

Before I show you how I use these products on my hair, I'll quickly go through the contents of the gift set for you. Firstly, the HUGE paddle brush-I was thrilled to see this as part of the set because my old hairbrush was on the way out and I was desperate to find one that would detangle my hair with the minimum of fuss. This brush glides easily through the hair and brushes out any tangles quickly and easily.

Secondly, there are two GHD branded hair clips for holding parts of your hair out of the way whilst you style it. Its difficult to say how these are any different from other clips like these you can find in your local Boots, but they're a nice addition to the set and do the job!

Lastly the actual hair products-the set contains a 120ml Straight & Smooth Spray and a 100ml Final Shine Spray. I love both of these products, the first smooths out any frizz before I style my hair and protects it nicely from the 200 degree heat of my hair straighteners. The second adds shine and hold to the finished look and tames any static flyaways. I have one minor quibble with these products and that is that I would prefer to have either the same volume of product for both or that they were switched around as I use the Final Shine Spray a lot more.

Now for my two looks:

Sometimes I like to go for the messy, scrunched up waves look to add a bit of volume to my hair without having it look too 'done'. To achieve this look I plait my hair whilst it is damp from showering the night before and then in the morning when I undo my hair it leaves me with ready to go waves. All that I need to do then is to spritz my hair with a texturising sea spray and scrunch it up with my fingers, before adding shine and hold to the final look with GHD Final Shine Spray.

I used to straighten my hair all the time whilst I was at school, and now I'm getting back into it again after seeing the straight and sleek look in all the magazines for this season. For this look I blow dry my hair before spraying it lightly with the GHD Straight & Smooth Spray to defrizz my hair and also to protect it from the heat of my straighteners. I then clip up the top layers of my hair so that I can straighten the bottom layers more easily. I then let my hair down and straighten the top layers, before spraying it with the Final Shine Spray. Finally I brush through my hair with the GHD Paddle Brush and I'm ready to go!

There you go! Nothing revolutionary but I do like having two simple and quick looks to choose from in the morning-both of these take no more than fifteen minutes to achieve after blowdrying/plaiting. As for the GHD gift set, don't you think this would make the perfect Christmas present for a hair obsessed friend or family member? It comes in such a nice sleek little box too, all it requires is a festive ribbon wrapped around it!
