Makeup Look-Sinead Hollyoaks

Who hasn't watched Hollyoaks at some point and wished they could be made over to look like one of the characters? I mean...well, Jacqui is kind of pretty in that just released from jail way? Or...Carmel, on her wedding day? ROLLER-SKATES GUYS. No? Erm...

Okay, so nobody has ever really wanted to look like any of the McQueen sisters. But some of the other characters actually get to look quite nice on set-just the other day I was wondering what shade of lipstick Ruby was wearing. There has only been one look I've seen and thought that I absolutely had to try it for myself though, and that is the eye makeup Sinead O'Connor had going on at the Wretch 32/Bart sing off moment.

Best picture I could find online, sorry! Hopefully you get the idea though.

Now, I love a dramatic winged eyeliner at the best of times, but I've never tried having a little flick on the inner corner of the eye as well, and I think it looks pretty good! So I thought I'd have a go at it and let you see how it looks when an averagely skilled with makeup girl has a go at it as opposed to having it done by makeup artists.

So I started off by doing my foundation, concealer and powder-chucked on a TONNE of bronzer, that Sinead sure can look orange, and then lined my waterline with a regular black eye pencil. I also put four little dots on my eyes so that my flicks would looks somewhat even.

The finished look. No, I'm just kidding.

Then I just filled it out, it was like dot-to-dot but on my face. I did the top of my eye first, and connected it with the outer dot to make the flick, then I did under my eye and connected that to the outer flick as well. Then I just sort of added the inner flick because I've never done one before. I think that was a mistake actually, it would have looked better if I'd done it all a bit more fluidly, so that's a lesson learned for next time.

The actual finished look. Also, please excuse my hair, my roots are so bad at the moment it always looks like my hair is greasy :(

I'm not 100% on it, to be honest-I almost didn't post this in the end because I'm a bit of a perfectionist! I think definitely I need to change the whole doing it in little sections approach, because to me it seems as though it doesn't quite fit together, as opposed to how it looks on Sinead. Secondly, it is a very dramatic look, and I think I might have been able to get my head around it a bit better if I weren't teaming it with a plain grey sweater and some trackie bottoms (oh the glamour!)

Maybe I'll try it out again the next time I get all dressed up and see if I prefer it then! What do you think?

P.S: My hair looks crap at the minute, someone tell me what to do with it please. :)

  1. I definitely think it would look better if you were dressed up to go out!! Sometimes if I'm just experimenting at home in my old clothes or pjs that it looks really strange but then if I do it when I'm going out, it really does look much better.

You did a good job of this look though! :) xx

  2. Ooooh sultry! I like the look of this, and generally when you do things that are different from the norm, you think you look more different that everyone else does! Does that make sense? xx

  6. I am HORRENDOUS at eyeliner, it's always too thick or uneven or the wing looks like it's from a jumbo jet :| But I'll definitely give this technique a shot though! Even if my eyes aren't quite big enough to pull off that particular look :)

  10. It does look really similar to sinead's, although as a person she annoys me.

"I WANNA GO ON ALL THE RIDES BECAUSE IT LOOKS BOSS" she said that once, I cringed.
